Neil (Kumaru) Wijesundera, LLM

Neil had his primary education at the S. Thomas’ College in Mt.Lavinia, in Sri Lanka.

In 1986 upon completion of his law studies at the Sri Lanka Law College he was called to the bar as an Attorney-At-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka.

He then continued his law studies in England and in 1990 was awarded the Master of Laws by the Faculty of Laws of the University of London, England. In 1997 he was called to the Bar as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England & Wales.

Upon successful completion of the prescribed qualifying examinations and the Bar Admission Course of the Law Society of Upper Canada he was admitted as Barrister-At-Law and Solicitor of the Superior Court of Justice in Ontario, in 2002.

He has practiced in the areas of Criminal Defence, family and Civil Litigation and at the present time confines himself predominantly to the practice of Real Estate, Corporate Commercial, Wills and Estates.

Thomas G. Richards is one of four children from a respected Toronto family. His father immigrated to Canada as a child, graduated with two university degrees, became a pilot in the Canadian Air Force, and flew supersonic fighter jets in both Canada and Europe.

After college Mr. Richards had a successful career in retail management, then in his mid-twenties attended university and received a Bachelor Degree (BA) with a concentration in English Literature from the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Arts in 1983.

Three years later he was granted a Law Degree (LLB) from the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Law (Common Law) in 1986.

After successfully completing his Articles and the LSUC Bar Admission Course, Mr. Richards became a lawyer and joined the Law Society of Upper Canada in 1988. He has practiced law since then both in Canada and overseas.

Mr. Richards is also a successful Instructor, and taught evening law courses over a period of more than ten years at various colleges and universities. He established a program of Western Law and Legal English attended by lawyers and judges in the Peoples Republic of China.

Though Mr. Richards has practiced most areas of the law, he now restricts his practice to criminal and immigration law. He is designated counsel for the respected firm Get-To-Canada Ltd.

He has strong connections with many of the vibrant multi-cultural communities in Toronto, and is well acquainted with the needs of new Canadians.

Janaki Wijesundera, LLM

Janaki is an Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka and a Solicitor of England & Wales. She received her Master of Law degree from the University of London, U.K. In Canada, she completed her Articles of Clerkship with Diamond & Diamond, Barristers, and was called to the Bar in 2003. Prior to her call, she has worked in the areas of real estate, civil litigation, immigration and personal injury in large and specialist boutique law firms in London (England) and Toronto.

Areas of Practice
Janaki has practiced family law since 2003. She has extensive experience in negotiating separation and co-habitation agreements, marriage contracts and resolving complex support, property, custody and access disputes, and obtaining Divorce Orders. She represents clients in Superior Court of Justice, Ontario Court, Family Court, and at mediations and arbitrations.

She has practiced Immigration Law for over 20 years. She is proficient in obtaining permanent (family sponsorship/skilled worker/business/investor) and temporary (study permit/work permit/visitor visa) residence in Canada. She also helps clients with complex Citizenship issues, Permanent Resident Card extensions and immigration appeals.
